Spider House To Host Valentine's Event Benefiting Foster Kids

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — What better way to spend your Valentine's weekend than alongside friends and neighbors with a shared love for good deeds?

Spider House Cafe and Ballroom will host Austin's #1 Valentine's Alternative Charity Party on Sunday, Feb. 16 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will benefit Together We Rise, a non-profit working with thousands of volunteers, social workers, CASA advocates, and other partners to transform the way kids experience foster care. Their programs offer meaningful and effective ways to help children in foster care.

The iconic Spider House Ballroom will serve as backdrop for performances by some of Austin's best local bands, and will also feature performance art and yield great photo ops. There will also be a display, sale and auction of fine art, and attendees will have the chance to create their very own Valentine's for VIK's (Very Important Kids in foster care). The charitable event will feature a great afternoon of music, hands on art, raffles, drinks and art auctions all intended to spread the love.

Foster kids often use trash bags as they move from place to place; to offer a more dignified alternative for packing their belongings, attendees are asked to help provide a duffel bag and personal items for foster kids at this community event.
