Zack Kleypas Named Pflugerville High School's New Principal

Kleypas served as principal of Park Crest Middle School for five years, school district officials said.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Pflugerville ISD has named Zack Kleypas as the new principal of Pflugerville High School.

The district announced the news Thursday at its monthly board of trustees meeting. Kleypas will take over as principal at the high school for the 2021-2022 school year.

Kleypas served as principal of Park Crest Middle School for five years, school district officials said.Prior to his time at Park Crest Middle School, Kleypas was an assistant principal at Hendrickson High School for several years.

Kleypas is expected to replace former principal Ameka Hunt. Last month, Del Valle ISD announced it had hired Hunt as the new principal of Del Valle High School.

“Zack Kleypas has been with our district for a long time and risen through the ranks,” said Doug Killian, superintendent of PfISD. “His leadership skills have always been there, and it was just a matter of time until an opportunity for him to lead one of our high schools became a reality.”

Kleypas has held numerous leadership roles and served on committees within the district during his time, district officials said.

He helped co-found a mentor program at Park Crest for at-risk students that has matched more than 60 mentors with students.

Kleypas earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in 2010 and completed his master’s in educational leadership from Texas State University in 2014.

Officials said he is currently working toward a doctorate from Texas A&M in PK-12 education administration. A Search for Kleypas’ replacement at Park Crest will begin immediately.
