Alvin School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Alvin is August 17. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Alvin Independent School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/11: Comp/Professional Learning
• 8/14 - 8/16: Working on the Work Day
• 8/17: First Day of School

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/12: End of First Grading Period
• 10/13: No School for Students (Staff Collaboration Day)
• 10/16: No School
• 10/17: Start of Second Grading Period

November

• 11/20 - 11/21: No School for Students (Comp/Professional Learning)
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

• 12/4 - 12/8: High School STAAR Testing
• 12/21: Early Dismissal, End of Second Quarter
• 12/22 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/8: Start of Third Quarter
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day)

February

• 2/16: No School for Students (Staff Collaboration Day)
• 2/19: No School (President's Day)

March

• 3/9: End of Third Quarter
• 3/12 - 3/16: No School (Spring Break)
• 3/19: Start of Fourth Quarter
• 3/30: No School (Good Friday)

April

• 5/25: Last Day of School, Early Dismissal, ASSETS Graduation
