Jones Creek VFD Receives 2003 Pumper From Klein VFD
The truck offers versatility to JCVFD by allowing it to service calls at residents' homes, brush fires and mutual aid calls.

SPRING, TX — The Jones Creek Volunteer Fire Department received a donated pumper truck from the Klein Volunteer Fire Department and Harris County Emergency Services District 16 last week. The transfer ceremony took place on May 17 at the Harris County ESD 16 headquarters building in Spring.
The Jones Creek VFD held a transfer ceremony of their own on Friday, welcoming the 2003 mini pumper into service.
Jones Creek VFD is a small department with older equipment that is in need of maintenance or replacement, especially in light of upcoming growth, Jones Creek Fire Chief Gus Cancino said.

A replacement four-wheel-drive pumper with a 340-gallon tank and 20-gallon fire retardant foam cell will be a great asset to the department, he said.
“Our current pumper truck is 21 years old and very worn out,” Cancino said. “Due to the high cost of replacing the skid unit and truck and limited funds, our department does not have the option to purchase a vehicle outright.”

Parts for Jones Creek VFD’s current mini pumper are no longer available due to its age, Cancino said.
The truck offers versatility to JCVFD by allowing it to service calls at residents’ homes, brush fires and mutual aid calls with nearby community firefighting organizations.
Jones Creek is a growing community south of Harris County on State Highway 36 that will see the highway transformed from a two-lane to a four-lane highway soon.
Increased traffic and local growth are creating more demand for fire prevention services. Increased demand means JCVFD needs newer, more dependable resources to keep its community safe, Cancino said.
“We are happy to help out a brother fire department,” HCESD 16 Commissioner Mike Pate said. “We understand how vital it is to resident and firefighter safety to have sound equipment that can be depended upon to get the job done.”
