La Porte Man Facing Manslaughter Charges in Death of Stepfather
A La Porte man is facing manslaughter charges for allegedly killing his stepfather.
LA PORTE, TX — Gary Shelton, 63, is facing a charge of manslaughter in relation to the death of his 89-year-old stepfather.
On Friday, Aug. 19, La Porte PD received a report of an accidental discharge at a home in the 9700 block of Wilmont Road in La Porte.
When the police arrived on scene, they found the victim of the shooting dead and the alleged shooter, Shelton, still at the address.

A preliminary investigation determined that Shelton had allegedly engaged in reckless behavior, which caused the death of his stepfather.
Although Shelton has been charged for the shooting, the investigation is still ongoing.
