MADD Recognizes 4 La Porte Officers For Strict DWI Enforcement
La Porte Police Officers Michael Harness, Christopher Forsythe, Andrew Heiden and Eli Rivera made 173 DWI arrest in 2018
LA PORTE, TX --Four La Porte police officers were honored recently by the Southeast Texas chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers for their stringent enforcement against drunk driving.
La Porte Police Officers Michael Harness, Christopher Forsythe, Andrew Heiden and Eli Rivera were recognized recently during the 2018 Law Enforcement Recognition Luncheon for their relentless pursuit of drunk drivers.
The four officers are responsible for 173 of the nearly 300 DWI arrests that were made in La Porte in 2018.

The four police officers are known locally and now region-wide for their dedication to keeping area roadways safe for law-abiding drivers.
Officer Harness was honored as La Porte’s top DWI enforcement officer for 2018, with a total of 63 DWI arrests.

Harness is a Drug Recognition Expert trained to detect impairment other than alcohol, is a certified Breath Test Operator, a regular speaker for the La Porte Police Citizen’s Academy, and assists with the La Porte Independent School District’s Shattered Dreams Program.
Officer Forsythe, who was recognized for making 41 DWI arrests in 2018, is also a Drug Recognition Expert and certified Breath Test Operator for La Porte PD.
Officer Rivera was recognized for making 36 DWI arrests in 2018. Rivera is also a Drug Recognition Expert and certified Breath Test Operator for La Porte PD, as well as an adjunct instructor for University of Houston Downtown Police Academy.
Officer Heiden made 33 DWI in his first year as a police officer. These officers are known among their peers as hard-workers, and seek to remind the community that area roadways are safer, largely, because of the men and women of LPPD who are working day and night behind the scenes.
