Election Results: Find Out Who Won In Pasadena, South Houston
Find out who won the council races in Pasadena and South Houston, who is on your school board.

PASADENA, TX — The votes have been counted in a number of city and school board elections in Pasadena, and other Southeast Houston communities, yielding a few surprises.
The races for Pasadena and South Houston's city council races were nearly all contested. Only Pasadena City Councilman Sammy Casados had the luxury of running unopposed this election cycle, but the other's were not as fortunate.
In the District A race incumbent Felipe Villarreal lost his reelection bid to former Pasadena Councilman Ornaldo Ybarra, with Ybarra winning handily with 78.80% to Villarreal's 21.20%.Ybarra became a strong voice for Latino voters during his three terms on the city council.

In District B incumbent Bruce Leamon easily defeated challenges from Steve Halvorson and Blanca Sanchez, winning 54.93% of the ballots.
District C incumbent Don Harrison easily defeated a challenge by Jaime Blanco, while in District E Councilman Cody Ray Wheeler barely won a fourth term, edging out challenger Joseph Thomas.

In other Pasadena council races, District F incumbent Phil Cayten easily defeated challenger Sam Tijerina, while the District G incumbent Cary Bass held off Mary A. Vargas. In District H, it was incumbent Thomas Schoenbein winning his second term against challenger Lori Laird.
In South Houston, Mayor Joe Soto, who served on the city council since 2005, defeated Irene Tamayo, with 59.80% to Tamayo's 40.20%.
In the Position 1 race, Incumbent Mary Castillo defeated Eddie Torres, winning 57.50% of the ballots while in Position 2 incumbent Willie Rios won a new term with 57.23% of the ballots against Rocio Rubio.
Incumbent Cynthia Piña also won reelection for her Position 3 seat, and defeated Jesse Garciawhile Mauro Barrera defeated Claudia Meléndez the Position 4 race.
In the Position 5 race, Louis Martinez bested Silvia Gonzalez to replace Tamayo, winning 51.25% of the ballots in that race.
