San Jac Volleyball to Host Labor Day Military Appreciation Tournament
San Jacinto College Volleyball will host a military appreciation tournament Labor Day weekend.

Pasadena, TX — San Jacinto College volleyball will host the school's annual Military Appreciation Volleyball Tournament Labor Day weekend.
Games start on Thursday, Sept. 1, and will run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Competition continues on Friday, Sept. 2, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and concludes on Saturday, Sept. 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The tournament will feature teams from Blinn College, Hillsborough Community College, North Central Texas College, Brookhaven College, Laredo Community College, Northeastern Junior College, Victoria College, Hill College, Lee College, Panola College and Wharton County Junior College.

Each match will be the best of five series. Teams will follow the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national tournament match start protocol.

Military service men and women will be honored on Saturday, Sept. 3, during a veteran recognition ceremony in between games. A reception, with food sponsors that include Gringos Mexican Kitchen and H-E-B, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. for service members and their families.
A Bell UH-1V Iroquois “Huey” helicopter will land on the Central Campus courtyard on Saturday afternoon for photo opportunities. Additional highlights will include the Pasadena High School and La Porte High School color guards. Military recruiters will also be in attendance.
Admission to the Military Appreciation Volleyball Tournament will be free for military veterans with ID and for children 8 years old and younger. General admission will range from $10 to $15, and San Jacinto College student admission with ID will range from $5 to $10.
Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to Camp Hope, which provides interim housing for our Wounded Warriors, veterans and their families suffering from combat-related post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
