San Jacinto College Gets $100,000 Donation, Buys Organ

San Jacinto College recently received a $100,000 donation to the school's music program, the money was used to buy an organ.

Pasadena, TX -- A recent donation of $100,000 allowed San Jacinto College to purchase a digital church organ. The donation helped cap off a 12-year fundraising campaign to purchase the instrument.

The organ, a Johannus Ecclesia D-570, is only sold through one dealer in Texas and has to be custom installed for each location. The instrument is currently on display at the school's Monte Blue Music Building concert hall.

To dedicate the organ the college is commissioning Wayne Oquin to compose a piece of music specifically for the opening concert. The piece will be performed by Grammy-winning organist Paul Jacobs. The date for the concert has not been set.
