Suspect Accused Of Beating 85-Year-Old Man Arrested In Louisiana

Silvano Dejesus Echavarria was arrested Friday morning by the U.S. Marshall's Office.

PASADENA, TX - A suspect accused of beating an 85-year-old man to death outside an apartment complex on Shaver Street has been arrested in Louisiana, the Pasadena Police Department reported on its Facebook page.

Silvano Dejesus Echavarria was arrested Friday morning by the U.S. Marshall’s Office in Tammany Parrish, Louisiana. He has been charged with capital murder and is being held without bond. Pasadena Police detectives are en route to Louisiana so that Echavarria can be extradited to Harris County.

Police have been searching for Echavarria since early August. Police found the victim with injuries to his head about 7 a.m. on Aug. 5. Surveillance video at the apartment complex captured the beating.

The victim was out collecting cans and his body was found in the 4200 block of Shaver Street. The victim was identified as Pedro Munive.

An officer who was patrolling the Briarcliff Apartment complex discovered Munive's body in the parking lot. Investigators said Munive, who collected cans in the area for extra money, was brutally attacked and suffered severe injuries to his head, face and neck.
