Tip Leads To Arrest Of Man Wanted In 2 Houston Gym Rapes
Carlos Eduardo Guevara, 18, who was wanted for attacking women as they were leaving area Fitness Connection locations, has been arrested.

PASADENA, TX — An 18-year-old man accused of raping several women as they left Houston area fitness centers has allegedly confessed, according to investigators. Police arrested 18-year-old Carlos Eduardo Guevara at his home in Houston on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Pasadena Police released surveillance video of a green Ford Mustang from a Pasadena Fitness Connection they believed was connected to the aggravated sexual assault of a women who was confronted outside her home, and sexually assaulted after leaving the fitness center.
Pasadena Police Chief Josh Bruegger said they received an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers about the car, which was parked in the 5800 block of Alvarado Street.

Investigators with the Harris County Pct. 2 Constable's Office went to the home where they saw the green vehicle from the video, and noticed that the front quarter panel had been painted.
Police waited nearby and watched and waited until Guevara. came back home, and then stopped him as he was about to leave, Bruegger said.

"When he was arrested, there were sand paper and paint swatches in his pocket, consistent with trying to alter the appearance and color of the vehicle," Bruegger said.

Police also recovered mask from the car, which was allegedly used in one of the sexual assaults, Bruegger said.
Through the investigation police learned that on April 1, Guevara had followed a woman home from a fitness center in Missouri City and sexually assaulted her near her home.
Investigators are testing DNA samples in both cases to ensure they are indeed related.
Pasadena Police Detective Sebastian Mata said Guevara expressed remorse at the crimes.
"Throughout the interview, he was very upset at what he'd done," Mata said. "I asked him several times if he'd ever done this before, and he said he never did. He never told me why he did it, but there was definitely some remorse."
Police said Guevara had followed another woman to her home and tried to rape her, but she was able to scare him away by screaming and honking her horn.
Guevara is being held in the Harris County Jail with bond set at $500,000. He is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault and one court of aggravated assault. Since Guevara is from El Salvador, the Immigration and Custom Enforcement has placed an ICE detainer on him to ensure he is not released even if he makes bail.
