CROSBY, TX — President Donald Trump was in Crosby, Texas on Wednesday to sign two executive orders to help streamline pipeline operations vital to the local economy and the oil and gas industry overall.

Air Force One landed at Ellington Field shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday. The presidential motorcade traveled to the International Union of Operating Engineers International Training and Education Center.

Although his visit was mostly routine on a presidential scale, Trump’s visit to the small blue-collar town of just over 2,000 residents had many excited. Crosby ISD pushed back the state-mandated STAAR testing a day and had early release for students and teachers, some of whom greeted the Trump motorcade with other members of the Crosby community.

Trump touted the lowest unemployment rate in decades and the resurgence in recent years on the U.S. oil and gas industry, that has added more jobs to the economy, particularly in the Houston and Baytown regions.

“With the help of the incredible workers in this room the United States is now the number one producer of oil and natural gas anywhere in the world…,” Trump said. “Nobody in the world can do what you folks do, and we are going to make it easier for you.”

Trump called the two executive orders “groundbreaking” order designed to continue the revival of the American oil industry.

“My action will cut through destructive permitting delays…so you can get to work producing the energy and the infrastructure our country needs to thrive, to compete, to win…,” he said.

The first of those executive order could streamline the efficiency to approve energy infrastructure across country lines, which means Trump will solely make any decision to issue or deny those permits regarding pipelines and all projects.

The second order is designed to modernize regulations for exporting liquefied natural gas and halt what Trump called “state-level abuses of water quality certification when deciding whether to approve pipelines.

“Too often badly needed energy infrastructure is being held back by special interest groups, entrenched bureaucracies, and radical activists…,” Trump said.

After signing the executive orders, Trump traveled back to Ellington Field where he boarded Air Force One to return to Washington D.C.
