ICYMI: Washburn Tunnel To Close Thursday Night
The second of three construction phases is closing Washburn Tunnel Thursday night.

HOUSTON, TX — The Washburn Tunnel will be closing for maintenance Thursday, June 28 at 8 p.m. and will remain closed until early Friday morning, reports say.
This will be the second subsequent closure of the tunnel for maintenance, with the first closure taking place on June 21.
The tunnel, which is used by up to 20,000 vehicles daily, according to Chron.com, will undergo two more closings this year.

To detour, take the 610 east Loop Freeway, Sam Houston Parkway and Texas 146.
Workers will be repairing the concrete walls and expansion joints, according to Chron.com, alongside the air shafts and ventilation building.

The project also includes a closing a 10-day closing from July 23 to Aug. 3. The project is costing Harris County $670,000, Chron.com reports.
