Woman Is Beaten, Runaway Teen In CPS Custody After Carjacking

A 29-year-old woman who had a runaway girl with her is recovering after being assaulted and carjacked near Pasadena, police said.

PASADENA, TX — A 29-year-old woman is in the hospital after she was severely beaten during an early morning carjacking, according to police. The assault happened at about 1 a.m. Tuesday on Axilda Street near Vinett Street.

Police said the woman, who had a 16-year-old girl in the SUV with her, was attacked by a group of people who ran out of the home as she pulled up. Investigators said the woman's jaw was broken and she lost several teeth during the assault.

The woman and the girl were pulled from the SUV, and the people drove off in her vehicle. The woman was taken to an area hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries.

The girl, who police said was a runaway, was placed in CPS custody. Police have not said how the victim and the girl know each other, or what they were dong at the home.

Police are looking for a 2009-2010 Jeep Cherokee that may be either blue or green. Police do not have a license plate number.
