As students cope with online learning, there are various free resources out there available to help

As students settle into the 2020-2021 school year, many are struggling to keep up with their assignments and homework due to the COVID Learning Slump and less in-classroom instruction time.

The top 5 educational apps have been ranked by popularity and rating scores on AppAnnie, which you can view here. All of these are free and perfect for helping students with their schoolwork and learning. You can also view the full list below, with some of my helpful tips to get the most out of the apps and websites to help your kiddos stay on track and on top of their education.

  1. Brainly: This is a homework help app and an online learning community that helps students go from questioning to understanding. Users are able to post questions and get crowdsourced verified answers, and they can also reinforce their learning by helping to answer other students’ questions.
  2. Quizlet: This platform lets you create your own virtual flashcards or browse through pre-made options. It’s designed to help users recall information, and you can also test yourself to check your progress.
  3. Photomath: This app lets you scan a handwritten math problem and get the solution. The app also lists instructions step by step so you understand how the solution was figured out.
  4. Kahoot: Play engaging quiz-based games (kahoots) at school, at home and at work, create your own kahoots and learn something new! Kahoot! brings the magic of learning for students, teachers, office superheroes, trivia fans and lifelong learners.
  5. Google for Education: This turnkey web-based tool specifically designed for teachers to use to manage their classes online. Educators can add resources, post tasks and assignments, and interact with students as they progress through lessons, among many other convenient features.

How are your kids doing with online school this year? What subjects are they struggling with most? There are plenty of resources available if you know where to look. Happy learning!
