Hawaiian Falls to Host Free Swim Lesson for All Ages
Hawaiian Falls Mansfield, Roanoke & Waco Participating In World's Largest Swim Lesson June 17
Hawaiian Falls waterparks in Mansfield, Roanoke and Waco will host The 12th Annual World's Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL) to build awareness about the vital importance of teaching children to swim to help prevent drowning. The 2021 World's Largest Swimming Lesson™ will be held 9:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17 in an attempt to create awareness that Swimming Lessons Save Lives!
"Drowning isn’t like it’s portrayed on TV or in the movies,” said Hawaiian Falls Managing Director Ryan Forson. “People usually don’t yell ‘help’ or thrash around and wave their hands. “It’s really quick and it’s usually silent. They just slip under the water and sink. But a 2018 study by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development found children who participated in swim lessons had an 88 percent reduced risk of drowning.”
Children 2 and under always are free when accompanied by a paid adult admission.

Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-14. The World's Largest Swimming Lesson™ was created in 2010 by the World Waterpark Association to serve as a platform to help local community aquatic facilities and the many different national, regional and state-wide water safety and drowning prevention organizations work together to tell this important story on a local and national level.
