Plano ISD Scholastic Visual Art National Medalists

Congratulations to the three 2021 national scholastic art medalist from Plano ISD. All art and writing submissions were blindly judged based on the same three criteria that have been in place since the program’s founding: originality, technical skill and emergence of personal vision or voice.

Student works are first adjudicated regionally through more than 100 local affiliates (see the slide show and lists below of the many regional Plano ISD winners). All gold key regional works were eligible for national medal judging.

National Gold Medal

• Zoya Makkar, IB World School at Plano East, title: Awake From an Ignorant Slumber

National Silver Medals

• Krista McLeod, Plano West Senior High, title: Blac

• Li Shen, Plano West Senior High, title: Moment of Prayer
