Plano Residents Best At Keeping New Year's Resolutions: Study
A study from WalletHub found Plano the 11th-best city for keeping resolutions. See how other Metroplex cities stacked up.
PLANO, TX — Whether you've resolved to save money, lose weight or travel more, you're in pretty good hands. A study from WalletHub named Plano the 11th-best city in the nation and the second-best in the state for keeping New Year's resolutions.
The study took a look at 52 metrics ranging from gyms per capita to income growth to employment outlook, each of which they say can impact a person's ability to keep a resolution. What they found is that Plano really has the chops to keep you on track.
Plano landed in the No. 30 spot for Health Resolutions, the No. 2 spot for Financial Resolutions and the No. 6 spot for School and Work Resolutions. As for breaking bad habits, Plano ranked in at No. 14, while it placed No. 94 for relationship resolutions.

Other Metroplex cities appeared on the list. Dallas came in at 46, Fort Worth, 60; Arlington, 87; Irving, 96; Grand Prairie, 93; Garland, 126.
Austin ranked highest among Texas cities, coming in at No. 9 nationwide. It was also named a top city for lowest unemployment rates. Houston came in at No. 35, San Antonio, 44; El Paso, 88; Amarillo, 99; Lubbock, 123; Corpus Christi, 136; Brownsville, 157; and Laredo, 163.

Gabriele Oettingen, a professor of psychology at New York University encourages resolution-makers to dream big, but warns that they should keep realistic goals and setbacks in mind. Rather than being derailed by an obstacle, people with plans in place can overcome them and continue moving toward their goals.
