A Safest City: Plano Police Blotter
This week's Plano Police Blotter takes a look at crime by category and Plano's ranking among America's safest cities.

PLANO, TX — What's in a crime? That by which we call a robbery by any other word would still be as illegal.
Shakespeare aside, crime happens in every U.S. city. While some might see more violent crimes and others more property crimes, there's no stopping illegal activity. But for a city the size of Plano, the numbers are looking good.
The U.S. Census Bureau estimates 286,057 people live in Plano. In the last week only 73 crimes showed up on CrimeReports.com, an online system used to track criminal reports in some U.S. cities.

Such a low crime rate is great news, but it's really not that surprising. In 2017, Law Street Media named Plano the nation's sixth-safest among cities of more than 200,000.
