Three Arrested In Dallas Store Owner's Murder

Each of the suspects faces a charge of capital murder. Police say Ahmed Omar, 56, died in a robbery gone wrong.

PLANO, TX — Three people were arrested Saturday in connection to the Feb. 14 murder of a 56-year-old small business owner in Plano. Police say Ahmed Omar was shot in front of his home in the 4200 block of McAlice Drive during a robbery-turned-deadly.

Brandon D. Charles Davis, 23, Wilbert Scales Jr., 23, and Ladrida Diann Bagley, 48, all face a charge of capital murder. Davis and Scales are held in Dallas County Jail, and Bagley is held in Collin County Jail.

Davis is held on a $1 million bail amount, while Bagley and Scales are held on $500,000 bail amounts.

Omar owned Sav Mor Food Store in the 3500 block of South Buckner Boulevard. According to a KXAS report, he was known for his generosity.

Omar kept prices low for poor families and even offered to accept and store packages for safe keeping at his store, the station reported.

"He reached out to the community. He impacted so many people's lives that live in the community," Markie Brown, a customer, told KXAS. "He didn't look at this community like it's an unfortunate community. He looked at it like, 'These are my people. This is my family.' It's touching."

It's unclear why Omar was targeted in the robbery. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
