City To Celebrate 20 Years With Round Rock Express
Current and former mayors scheduled to launch first pitch at upcoming game as part of festivities observing two decades of league play.
ROUND ROCK, TX — The City of Round Rock will celebrate its 20-year partnership with the Round Rock Express at an upcoming home game this Saturday, officials said.
Festivities will take place when when the team faces off against the Tacoma Rainiers this coming Saturday, June 15, starting at 6:05 p.m. The event festivities will include a first pitch thrown by Mayor Craig Morgan and three of his predecessors: Alan McGraw, Nyle Maxwell and Robert Stluka. City staff and those who played an integral part in securing the partnership with Round Rock Express will also be honored, city officials said.
The Express were founded as a Double-A franchise in 2000 by Ryan Sanders Baseball, a group made up of Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, his sons Reid and Reese, Houston businessman Don Sanders, and his sons Bret and Brad. Reid Ryan worked with former Round Rock Mayor Charlie Culpepper to build community support for the team, while simultaneously setting the wheels in motion to build Dell Diamond prior to the team’s inaugural season.

Over the past 20 years, Dell Diamond has become a community focal point, serving as a premier Central Texas destination. The sports stadium is constantly ranked among the top in Minor League Baseball, cementing its status as a genuine multi-purpose sports and entertainment complex that hosts Express games, concerts, expos and festivals, among other events.
