Coronavirus-Testing Firm To Create 250 Jobs In Texas

Curative Inc.'s oral-fluid test is described as simple to use, self-administered and painless, yielding results in a mere 48 hours.

AUSTIN, TX — Tapped by Texas government officials to help increase testing for the coronavirus across the state, California-based Curative Inc. is poised to provide screening 48-hour results while concurrently hiring 250 jobs — including 150 in Austin, officials announced Friday.

The Texas Department of Emergency Management tapped the firm to increase testing efforts through the company's highly regarded oral-fluid test — described as simple to use, painless, self-administered by the patient with results coming within 48 hours. Curative officials said they have tested 3.5 million samples across the U.S., representing about 10 percent of the daily U.S. testing capacity.

The effort also will create 250 jobs in various Texas cities, company officials said in an email. Curative and the Texas Department of Emergency Management will hire 150 people "...to power the scaling of COVID-19 testing capacities" in the greater Austin area for a new laboratory, officials said. Moreover, officials added, the company will hire dozens more across Dallas, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio to support local deployment of mobile testing.
