Free Kid-Friendly Events around Round Rock This Week

Join in on some fun and free holiday cheer.

With the holiday season in full swing there’s plenty of free fun to be had around Austin. Here’s a list of some of the coolest things to do this week that won’t break the bank.

Monday Dec. 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.: Nutcracker Ballet at the Round Rock Library - 216 E Main St, Round Rock

Metamorphosis Dance will perform a special rendition of the Nutcracker for preschoolers. The dance team will also meet with the children and have a photo session following the performance. Pre-registration is only required for groups of six or more.

Tuesday Dec. 15 from 10:00 a.m to noon - Deck the Halls with Diapers - Northwest Recreation Center, 2913 Northland Dr, Austin.

The goal of this merry occasion is to fill Santa’s sleigh with diapers, but there will be fun activities such as cookie decorating and crafts. The event is free but donations are suggested.

Wednesday Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. - African Children’s Choir Concert - Central Christian Church, 1110 Guadalupe St, Austin.

The African Children’s Choir 30th Anniversary celebration will help benefit kids in Africa. The event is free but a love offering will be collected.

Thursday Dec. 17 at 5:30 p.m. - Rocking Holiday Extravaganza with Texas Choral Consort and the Invincible Czars + The Big Sing at the Blanton - Blanton Museum of Art, 200 E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Austin.

This grand holiday singing event will feature the Texas Choral Consort and Invincible Czars. Then at 6:30 the Symphonic Choir from Conspirare will perform a mix of classic and contemporary choral works. During the event admission to the Blanton Museum will be free.

Friday Dec. 18 and Saturday Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. - The Grinch Performance - Potter’s House Christian Church, 13461 Pond Springs Rd, Austin.

This rendition of the holiday favorite The Grinch will be followed by refreshments and an opportunity for pictures with the cast. The event is free but toy donations for Austin Police Department’s Operation Blue Santa are encouraged.
