The free event -- that's right, FREE -- takes place in downtown Round Rock from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., within a safe environment for candy and other treats.
"Halloween is a great way to connect with your community, have fun with your family and create spooktacular memories in an environment where the treats are sweet and the activities are far from tricky," city officials write.

Just how family-friendly is this thing? Let's put it this way, if Norman Rockwell ever painted a Halloween scene (or did he? Maybe an eagle-eyed reader can let us know) this would be it: There will be a "treat trail" running down Main Street lined with face painters, balloon artists, kid-friendly live music, photo booths, a story walk, adoptable puppies and kittens, bounce houses, a hometown hay ride and more!
Puppies and kittens ready to be adopted, people. It doesn't get much more Rockwellian than that.
