Pet Adoption Fees Waived At Williamson County Animal Shelter
All adoption fees will be covered from June 25 through Independence Day in quest to adopt out 10K pets in as many days nationwide.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Pet adoption fees will be waived at the Williamson Regional Animal Shelter through July 4, officials said.
Through the generosity of donors, all adoption fees will be covered from June 25 through Independence Day, according to a press advisory. To that end, The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is teaming up with Best Friends Animal Society and more than 270 other partner rescue groups across the country to offer fee-waived adoptions, in hopes of finding homes for 10,000 pets in 10 days, officials said.
The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter's Inner Loop location will be open for cat adoptions Monday - Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The WCRAS Canine Corral, 425 E. Morrow St., will be open for dog adoptions Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“If you get excited when a stranger pays for your coffee, imagine the joy you’ll feel when adopting a pet whose adoption fee has been covered,” Julie Castle, chief executive officer of Best Friends Animal Society, said in a prepared statement.
Getting adoptable pets into homes is crucial this time of year because each July, shelters across the country flood with dogs and cats, officials noted. Many of those intakes happen around the July 4th holiday, when, driven by a fearful reaction to fireworks and other loud sights and sounds, pets flee from their homes and end up in municipal animal shelters, officials added.
"We are so grateful to be a part of this event," Cheryl Schneider, Williamson County Animal Services Director, said in a prepared statement. "We hope this generosity will lead to shelter animals finding their forever families."
Schneider also encourages pet parents to update their information on tags and microchips: “This time of year is a reminder to update the owner’s information on your pet’s tags and to make sure your pet’s microchip is also registered and updated. These simple steps are lifesaving.”
