Man Arrested In Assault That Led To Round Rock Hospital Lockdown

A 32-year-old man was arrested on charges of aggravated assault after a shooting in Pflugerville early Wednesday.

ROUND ROCK,TX — A 32-year-old man was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, in an incident that led to a Round Rock hospital being placed on lockdown early Wednesday.

Pflugerville police said the U.S. Marshals’ Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Christopher Dwayne Mims in Austin after the Pflugerville Police Criminal Investigations Division filed an arrest warrant Wednesday.

Mims was taken to Travis County Central Booking Wednesday and faces a second-degree felony charge of aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $100,000.

Authorities said Mims is accused of shooting a woman Tuesday night while driving northbound on State Highway 130 through Pflugerville. The woman was taken to Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital in Round Rock for treatment and is in stable condition.

Around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, the Round Rock hospital was briefly placed on lockdown early as police searched for Mims.

Pflugerville police said the woman was taken to the hospital Tuesday evening after she was dropped off by the suspect in a truck at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Pflugerville for a gunshot wound.

Officers said they had no reports of gunshots at the hospital but they urged the public to stay away from the Round Rock hospital during the search.

By 6:45 a.m., Round Rock police said they finished a search of the hospital and the suspect, whose identity was not released, had not been found. Hospital staff then lifted the lockdown.
