Round Rock ISD Junior Receives Perfect SAT Score In First Attempt
Round Rock High School Junior Arnav Chopra received a perfect score on the SAT after his first attempt on the U.S. college admissions test.
A Round Rock ISD student received a "perfect" score on the SAT after his first attempt on the U.S. college admissions test, according to a story first broken by the Austin American-Statesman.
Arnav Chopra, a junior at Round Rock High School, took the SAT on March 13 and told the newspaper he was in disbelief when his parents told him he received a 1600, the highest possible score.
"My parents both came into my room acting like I had done something wrong, so of course I was scared that I was in trouble," Arnav told the American-Statesman. "But little did I know my dad logged on as early as six in the morning to check my score and told my mom. Once they told me, I was absolutely blown away and really just couldn't believe it."

Arnav said this was his first time taking the SAT, a test that is widely used for admissions to U.S. colleges.
Officials said Arnav is the third student in the school district to ever receive a 1600 on the SAT. Pooja Enagala from Westwood High School was the last student to receive a perfect score in 2019 and Vinh Ton from McNeil High School received a perfect score in 2017.

After he graduates next year, Arnav told the newspaper he is unsure whether he wants to attend college in Texas or out of the state.
While Arnav may not know where he plans to attend just yet, he is sure of his desire to major in a science field.
"I discovered an interest in astronomy and space travel sometime last year and learning calculus this year really amplified that because it gave me an interest in how math and physics can work, so I think I want to explore that stuff in college," Arnav said.
