Round Rock Sports Center To Be Featured As 'World's Greatest'

83,000-square-foot facility seating 1,400 will be featured on cable television show as one of the best sites in the globe.

ROUND ROCK, TX — The Round Rock Sports Center will be featured on the television series “World’s Greatest!" a show that highlights the world’s greatest sites among other attractions.

Officials with the city's Sports Management & Tourism department made the announcement on Tuesday, touting the 83,000-square-foot mixed-use space seating he ability to seat more than 1,400 spectators as "... one of the world’s greatest sports facilities."

"This state-of-the-art structure hosts over 50 tournaments a year, bringing visitors from near and far into Round Rock, and is also home to local sports team user groups," Gordon Freeman, the show's executive producer, said. “We think their story will be meaningful as well as very educational to our viewers.”

As a part of their filming process, “World’s Greatest!...” crews spoke with Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan about what makes the Sports Center unique and an integral part of the family of sports venues in Round Rock, known as the Sports Capital of Texas, officials said. Director of Round Rock’s Sports Management & Tourism Department, Chad McKenzie, was also interviewed and explained some of the special features at the Sports Center, and why user groups continue to return year after year to the venue for their events and training, officials added.

In addition to a 52,000 square foot maple wood court surface that can be morphed into a variety of configurations with motorized nets and lines for multiple sports, the Sports Center also houses 38 high definition screens used for scoreboards, messaging and more, plus in-house concessions and a dining area. The Sports Center features a covered turf field adjacent to the main structure that is used for outdoor sports and training programs. The 15,000 square foot area includes a concessions stand, patio seating and a modern play scape for children.

The Sports Center feature will air Jan. 8 and Jan. 22 on DirecTV Channel 305 and Dish Network Channel 250. Check your local listings for other channels featuring “World’s Greatest!...”, produced by How2Media, a 21stCentury television production company.
