Visit the 'round rock' that gave the city its name

In the town's earliest days, a round rock that juts from the trickling waters of the nearby Brushy Creek marked a low point frequently used by wagons and cattle drivers to cross the waterway.

This landmark eventually gave the small town its name.

Want to see it for yourself? Head to the part of Memorial Park perched on the north bank of the creek east of Chisholm Trail Road. Look closely enough and you may even see wagon wheel ruts made by caravans that crossed the creek long ago.

Take part in the virtual 'Run the Rock 2021'

Round the Rock event guide is hosting a virtual race series between March 1 and May 31. The series asks participants to run three fun runs/walks (5K/3.1 miles) at three different locations in your own time.

Some spring break events to do:

MARCH 20: Country singer Cody Johnson will headline a live concert at Dell Diamond, 3400 E Palm Valley Blvd., at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20. Gates will open at 6 p.m. The Dell Diamond field will be divided into individual 6-foot-by-6-foot square pods with a clear path on all sides. The seating bowl has been reconfigured to maintain social distancing. Barriers are in place around the field and seating bowl to enforce restrictions. Tickets start at $37-$360. March 21: The Round Rock Police Officers Association and the city of Round Rock will host the Round Rock Car Show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, March 21 at 301 W. Baghdad Avenue. The free family-friendly car show will feature collector, classic, favorite, sport, or antique cars or trucks. No loud music or drag/street racing is permitted.
