WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — County officials are celebrating the start of two safety improvement projects along Ronald Reagan Boulevard at entrances to Sun City, Texas.
A virtual groundbreaking was staged Tuesday to mark the start of construction on the road improvements. The two projects will provide increased safety on Ronald Reagan Boulevard at the intersections of Silver Spur Boulevard and Sun City Boulevard. The projects will be worked on simultaneously with construction scheduled to begin this winter and conclude in the spring of 2021, weather permitting.
The improvements at Silver Spur Boulevard include adding a deceleration lane and left turn lane on Ronald Reagan Boulevard, an acceleration lane on Ronald Reagan Boulevard for those turning left from Silver Spur Boulevard, overhead solar traffic beacons, and intersection lighting to alert drivers.

“I am excited for these improvement projects to get underway,” Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey said in a prepared statement. “Improvements at these intersections are the result of conversations I have had with the residents of Sun City, and I am thankful we are able to make this section of Ronald Reagan Boulevard safer and easier to travel,” she added.

The project is estimated to take approximately five months. The City of Georgetown will be responsible for maintaining the intersections once construction is completed.
