WilCo Traffic Alert: I-35 Closure Planned To Demolish Bridge

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Texas Department of Transportation crews will close the north and southbound Interstate 35 main lanes and ramps at CR 305 to accommodate demolition work on the old CR 305 bridge in Williamson County.

On Friday night (Sept. 27) from 8 p.m. until 9 a.m., crews will close the north and southbound I-35 mainlanes and ramps at CR 305. Northbound traffic must exit I-35 at CR 305 (exit 277) and will be able to re-enter I-35 at the next open entrance ramp. Southbound traffic must exit at CR 305 (exit 277) and will be able to re-enter I-35 at the next open entrance ramp.

On Saturday night, from 7 p.m. until 9 a.m., northbound I-35 will be closed and southbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane at CR 305. Northbound traffic must exit I-35 at CR 305 (exit 277) and will be able to re-enter I-35 at the next open entrance ramp. Southbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane with access to entrance and exit ramps.

The old CR 305 bridge in Jarrell, Texas, is currently closed for the demolition. Additionally, CR 305 will be closed to traffic at the southbound frontage road on both Friday and Saturday nights and will be detoured to CR 372. The new CR 305 bridge is set to open later this fall, TxDot officials said.

Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the upcoming closures. TxDOT asks the traveling public to be patient, adhere to construction signage, and remain aware when traveling through the work zone.
