Williamson County Lets The Dogs In, Not Out With Homecoming
Dogs moving from temporary shelter at Canine Corral in San Gabriel Park back to permanent shelter location still need permanent homes.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS — It's a homecoming that will give you paws.
Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter officials on Monday said they're poised to welcome the dogs back “home” with Homecoming Week. In November, the dogs will be moving from their temporary shelter at the Canine Corral in San Gabriel Park back to the permanent shelter location at 1855 SE Inner Loop in Georgetown, officials explained.
Currently, the shelter is over capacity with medium and large dogs, according to officials. As a result, the shelter is in desperate need of foster and forever homes. “At the current rate of dogs entering our shelter, we will be over capacity by 30 dogs on moving day, unless the community rallies around these dogs to save their lives,” Animal Services Director Cheryl Schneider said in a prepared statement.

During Homecoming Week from Oct. 22 to Oct. 28, officials said, the shelter will be voting for a Homecoming King and Queen, holding adoption specials, and giving out mums to special shelter dogs. Score a touchdown by adopting your M.V.P. (Most Valuable Pet)! Medium and large adult dogs and all adult cats are only $6 to adopt. Adult small dogs are $12; kittens are $50 for one and $75 for two; and puppies are $75 to adopt. If you cannot commit, the shelter urges the community to foster a medium or large dog.
From playful youngsters to sweet seniors, pets from Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter are fixed, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and registered, officials added helpfully.
