WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — The Williamson County Commissioners Court named Joy Simonton as the new county purchasing agent, officials said Wednesday.

Simonton previously worked for the City of Leander as purchasing agent and general services manager, according to an advisory. She earned a master’s degree in public administration from Walden University, according to a county-provided bio. Moreover, officials noted, she is a Certified Professional Public Buyer and a member of the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council and the Texas Public Purchasing Association.

Simonton's first day on the job will be Feb. 17, county officials said. She succeeds Randy Barker, who is retiring after serving as county purchasing agent for the past four years.
