Williamson County: Where To Get Vaccinated For Week of March 22

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Williamson County and the Texas Department of State Health Services will continue to have several drive-thru vaccination sites for the week of March 22.

Last week, the county's Dell Diamond vaccination site expanded it's capacity to give 5,000 doses each day.

With the increase in available appointments, residents who fall under the priority phases 1A, 1B or 1C are encouraged to register on the county’s centralized waitlist with the possibility to receive a vaccine appointment this week.

To date, 124,342 doses have been administered to Williamson County residents and 47,703 of those residents have been fully vaccinated, according to data provided by DSHS.

Here's how, when and where you can get vaccinated this week.

First, are you eligible for a vaccine?

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, Texans who can receive the COVID-19 vaccine at this time must fall into the Phase 1A, Phase 1B and Phase 1C categories.

Phase 1A includes health care workers, medical first respondents and residents and staff of long-term care facilities. Those in Phase 1B include anyone 65 and older and individuals 16 and older with at least one chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness.

On March 10, the Texas Dept. of State Health Services announced Texans age 50 and older will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine beginning March 15.

Earlier this month, the state agency and the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services announced teachers, school staff, bus drivers and those who work as or for licensed child care providers, including center-based and family care providers are also eligible for the vaccine.

When will all Texans be eligible for the vaccine?

All Texas adults will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine regardless of age, occupation or health status starting on March 29, according to Texas DSHS officials.

The Texas Department of State Health Services is still asking providers to prioritize appointments for people 80 years old or older and to prioritize walk-ins from anyone in that age group who shows up without an appointment.

How do you register for a vaccine?

People must first pre-register on the county's centralized waitlist in order to receive an appointment.

If you need to reschedule your appointment with Family Hospital Systems, residents are encouraged to email support@familyhospitalsystems.com.

Have questions? Williamson County has set up a call center to serve as a resource for residents interested in COVID-19 vaccine information.

The call center number is 512-943-1600 and is answered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Note: The call center cannot reschedule appointments.

I got my first dose and I haven't been able to get an appointment for my second dose. It's been more than 21-28 days. What do I do? Do I start over?

If you are unable to get your second dose in the recommended time frame, you do not have to start over.

While missing the suggested interval delays full protection, you can still get the second dose later if you have difficulty getting it within the recommended time. You will get full protection from the vaccine 1–2 weeks after getting your second dose.

Note: You can get vaccinated up to 42 days or 6 weeks later. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends you should not get the second dose earlier than the recommended 3- or 4-week interval.

COVID-19 vaccine distribution sites:

Round Rock Express' Dell Diamond will administer more than 5,000 coronavirus vaccines per day as a mass vaccination hub for Williamson County.

The site at 3400 E Palm Valley Blvd. in Round Rock will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday through Sunday and then will transition to being open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All vaccine doses are scheduled by appointment only.

The Williamson County and Cities Health District is also working to vaccinate the county's vulnerable population with a vaccination location in Taylor at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

This site targets eligible residents who live in the eastern part of the county and are unable to transport to other sites.

This site is by appointment only with emailed invitations going to people from the county's centralized waitlist with zip codes on the east side of the county, as well as people referred to them from their community nonprofit partners.
