2 Dead In Shooting At San Antonio Club

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said the shooting was the result of an argument inside the club.

SAN ANTONIO, TX — At least two people were killed in a shooting inside a club in San Antonio Sunday night after an argument ended in gunfire, according to authorities.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said at a press conference that around 8 p.m. local time, police received a report of shots fired at a club. A concert was taking place at the club, which was identified as Ventura, located in the 1000 block of Avenue B.

McManus said there was an altercation between a groupn or individuals and at least one person pulled out a weapon and started shooting. He said it was unclear whether the shooter was firing indiscriminately or at a specific person.

A total of seven people were shot, two of whom died. The five injured are at local hospitals.

"It's nothing more complicated than an argument that occurred inside the club with with someone pulling out a firearm, at least one person," McManus said.

One of the people killed in the shooting was identified only as a 21-year-old man. The identity of the second victim is not known but McManus said both were patrons of the club.

McManus said police were confident they would be able to identify the suspect and take them into custody.

The shooting occurred the same night two people were killed when a person opened fire at people waiting to enter a bar in Kansas City, Missouri.
