Located in the heart of Edgewood, the center is a one stop-education and workforce development center designed to meet the community where they live. The WETC provides academic and workforce training for high-paying, in demand careers, basic job skills, or the opportunity to work toward a college degree from the familiarity of the neighborhood. Some of the WETC’s current offerings include a food pantry, community computer lab, financial aid and admissions assistance, GED testing, small business development, and ESL classes.
Councilwoman Cabello Havrda issued the following remarks:
“Today marks the beginning of this 24.3 million dollar project that is the result of countless administrations prioritizing the future of our Westside residents by ensuring equitable access to opportunities. My budget priorities included a $500,000 investment in westside residents and the building of a more resilient workforce with the upskilling that will enable families to find economic security and prosperity. I cannot wait to welcome our neighbors into the new Westside Education and Training Center and the social and economic mobility that can be found with better access to education.”
