Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran Sets Priorities In 1st Budget Goal Setting Session In City Of San Antonio
Health, livelihood and mental health all play a role in our community surroundings and everyone, from our kids to our seniors need better.
June 25, 2021
SAN ANTONIO — Today, the City Council convened for a day-long policy goal setting session that included discussion regarding the FY 2022 Trial Budget establishing budget policy direction to guide the development of service priorities.
Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran released the statement below:
“Today we face a tremendous challenge to commence the process of balancing the City’s FY 2022 budget as we begin the process of recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year’s budget estimated a $127 million revenue shortfall for this fiscal year which presents challenges as we deliberate on how we move forward to balance the budget while still providing basic city services back to our district residents.
I look forward to our City Staff’s proposal in August as we start the important public process of engaging our constituents with District budget town halls, public work sessions and resulting in the adoption of the FY2022 balanced budget in September. Good Streets and sidewalks lead to the betterment of the community. Health, livelihood and mental health all play a role in our community surroundings and everyone, from our kids to our seniors need better.”
