SAN ANTONIO (October 14, 2019) – The Carver proudly presents another fabulous year of great performances. Two jazz vocalists and an R & B icon, each with their own style debut this fall. A brand-new arts organization from Houston will ignite passion for contemporary dance.

Saturday, October 19
Grammy Award Winner and one of the architects for pop music of the 21st century, Jody Watley, performs for the first time in San Antonio. Known for her groundbreaking marriage of rap & R&B, as well as her fusion of jazz and underground club culture, Jody is now in everyone’s playbook. Her cool style, along with her eclectic repertoire, is sure to bring high energy! Watley opens the Carver season on Saturday, October 19, 8 PM. jodywatley.net

Johnny Gill

The Carver Development Board’s annual fundraiser, Cavalcade of the Stars takes place at the Henry B. González Convention Center featuring R&B sensation, Johnny Gill. Evening activities will include a reception, silent auction and dinner followed by the Johnny Gill concert! Gill is sure to serenade the audience with his latest hit, “Soul of a Woman” and his all-time favorites like, “Red Dress,” “Rub You the Right Way.” All proceeds benefit the Carver’s education programs. Saturday, November 2

World-class, Los Angeles contemporary dance company, BodyTraffic, pays homage to traditional dance styles and techniques. This company takes pride in its world-class modern dances and is deeply committed to producing acclaimed works by distinctive choreographic voices. Wednesday Ball

The Little Carver Intimate Series opens to dynamic vocalist Wednesday Ball on Saturday, November 23rd. Ball is comfortable in many styles including R&B, dance, reggae and smooth jazz. Her high energy on the stage will make for a lively intimate night. Wednesday-ball.squarespace.com
