Free glasses for San Antonio kids through #GivingTuesday movement
San Antonio-area Visionworks locations will join #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Today, the San Antonio-based Visionworks will join #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This movement is a great way to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support. Through #GivingTuesday, Visionworks is prepared to give away thousands of free comprehensive eye exams and prescription glasses to San Antonio kids in need through their Let’s Go See initiative.
Let's Go See is a national movement to raise awareness of the importance of annual eye exams for children as part of their yearly health routine. Many parents wait until their child has expressed an issue with their vision before taking them for an eye exam, but according to Prevent Blindness America, 1 in 4 school-aged children in the United States have a vision problem, which if left untreated can affect learning ability, personality, and adjustments in school. Visionworks launched the Let's Go See program in 2015, and has pledged to provide 15,000 free eye exams and glasses to children in need each school year.
The goal is single-focused: for children to get annual eye exams. Every child. Every year. So, if a child between the ages of 5 and 18 can’t afford an eye exam and glasses, doesn’t have vision insurance or Medicaid, and isn’t signed up for ACA, they can be nominated for a free voucher. This year, join the #GivingTuesday movement and nominate a San Antonio-area child, school or organization who could benefit from a free eye exam and glasses at https://www.letsgosee.net/help.
