The Leadership San Antonio (LSA) Alumni Association took an important hiatus from their traditional quarterly events over the past year, enabling members to focus on their personal and professional lives and compassionately turn to focusing on supporting the community in a safe and healthy way. “Over the past year, it has been challenging for most, but with a return to normalcy upon us, the LSA Alumni Association knew it was time to FIESTA – even if it was in June,” relayed Juan Cano, Founder of Cano Development and Chair of the LSA Alumni Association. ”It was remarkable to witness generations of former class members reunited at El Camino,” the LSA Class 43 Alumni continued.

More than 60 alumni graduating from class years spanning the past 45 years of the program gathered together to reconnect at the fun Fiesta-style event, enjoying the delicious food and cold beverages in this unique new food truck park in the heart of downtown. El Camino aims to highlight the community of locally-owned food vendors by bridging the gap between the street food experience and the magical ambiance of grabbing a drink on the Riverwalk. In true LSA fashion, the alumni were able to highlight this growing small business that has an important purpose: synergistically supporting one another’s love for food, ingenuity, and business potential to solidify San Antonio as a food enthusiast powerhouse.

“The pandemic has shown us the necessity of community and powerful partnerships. Now is the time to rebuild the powerful community of LSA Alumni, and I look forward to working with Juan and the Chambers on this mission,” explains LSA Class 42 Alumni Katye Brought, Brand and Public Communications Manager for the San Antonio River Authority.

A special thanks to Hope Andrade, Co-Founder & Partner of GO RIO San Antonio River Cruises, LSA Class 17 Alumni, and current 2021 San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Board Chair, for welcoming our guests to the event. Andrade’s message was uncomplicated, yet powerful, “You never know who you’re standing next to.” She relayed the powerful opportunity that the LSA family provides in opening doors and supporting its members both personally and professionally. Her message encompasses the Alumni Association’s goal to reconnect former LSA class members who continue to make an impact in our community, well beyond their LSA class year. The LSA Alumni Association is looking forward to more events in the future. For the remainder of 2021, Alumni Association dues are waived.
