San Antonio Infant Killed By Alleged Drunk Driver

David Fuentes, 25, is accused of driving at a high rate of speed in Dollar General parking lot before slamming into shopping cart.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — A one-year-old girl was killed on Monday afternoon after an alleged drunk driver slammed his car into the shopping cart she was riding in at a store parking lot, according to reports.

The incident occurred at a Dollar General store on 319 Mourund Blvd. in the city's South side, mysa.com reported. According to a police report, the child's mother was loading groceries in the back of a her parked vehicle while her baby was in the shopping cart when the impact occurred.

The allegedly drunk driver was identified as David Fuentes, 25, charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault, the San Antonio Police Department said. Police said a blue Ford Ranger being driven by Fuentes took to the parking lot at a high rate of speed after taking a wide turn to gain entry, the site reported in referencing the police report.

Fuentes then hit the shopping cart, causing the baby inside it to to fly out of her seat given the force of the impact. Later identified as Corinna Tovar, the child died after being transported to the hospital.
