San Antonio Star Wars-Themed Holiday Decorations Are Forceful

Pair of holiday decoration settings show force is with residents to the point that even Yoda would smile approvingly. Proud, he would be.

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Impressive, these are.

The force is with the Perez family. To no one's great surprise, their San Antonio home decked out in an elaborate Star Wars-themed light show for the holidays has taken the grand prize in its neighborhood decoration contest.

Manuel and Sherrill Perez live in the Stone Oak neighborhood of “Villages of Cactus Bluff,” where they spent months and months of preparation building the display with more than 15,000 lights. Classic elements from the film are featured, made from everyday objects — the Millennium Falcon, Tie Fighter and AT AT walkers constructed from Lego or Jenga blocks, for example. Windex sprayer bottles, old smoke detectors and other common object also were utilized.

Many have visited the home at 1702 Cactus Bluff to take in the grandeur of is lights display in the days leading up to Christmas. It's an odd, yet impressive, collection of not only Star Wars characters but those from the "Peanuts" comic strip and Sesame Street.

But another Star Wars-themed home truly uses the force. Matt Johnson's latest Christmas light show continues the tradition and unique style of fast-paced, high-energy, Dubstep and EDM remixed synchronized light displays that have become his signature style, he described in a YouTube video.

What began two years ago as the "2015 Johnson Family Light Show," intervening shows have grown in complexity and popularity worldwide. Music is synchronized to the blinking lights, yielding a sensory overload for spectators. The lights show celebrating the launch of the new movie, Star Wars The Last Jedi will be delighting crowds in downtown San Antonio at Dignowity Park nightly from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. until New Year's Day.

It's really difficult to describe in words. Take a look at the video below for a taste:
