Teen Lost Use Of Legs For 10 Months, But Walks For Prom
For 10 months, a San Antonio teen couldn't walk. But when her date showed up for prom, she gave him the best surprise ever.

SAN ANTONIO, TX — For 10 months, a San Antonio, Texas, teenager’s legs failed her due to a disorder that took her by surprise. She got around on crutches, but it wasn’t exactly the look she wanted for her high school prom. So she made sure it wasn’t.
Morgan, who goes by MoMo on Twitter, surprised her date, Tarik, by walking straight toward him when he picked her up for prom Saturday night. “After not being able to walk with my own two legs for 10 months,” she tweeted in a video that has been viewed almost 13 million times, “I surprised my prom date with this.”
Tarik is clearly taken aback when he sees Morgan not only standing up, but gingerly walking toward him. He breaks into a run. They embrace. Tears flow.

“How did you do that?” he asks.
She’s fearless and has a strong faith, the teen’s aunt Brandi Forteiny wrote on Facebook.

“My niece lost the ability to walk last year and it's been a very long and difficult journey for her. She never complained or showed fear,” Forteiny wrote. “She always stuck by her faith and her strength without ever giving up on herself. It's been a humbling and inspiring experience to witness this rough transition for not only her but our family, as well. She made a goal for herself that she would walk in time for prom, and just like the fighter she is — she made it happen, y'all! And she looked so beautiful!”
On the Twitter thread, Morgan — @aeonianlife — explained that she wasn’t born with the conversion disorder that affected her leg function, but “surgery took a wrong turn.”
That motivated a Twitter user named Nina to work even harder with her physical therapy.
“I cried,” she tweeted. “I am so proud that you were able to accomplish this. My situation is definitely not comparable to yours, but I can’t wait until my husband sees how much progress I’ve made with my own recovery.”
Morgan tweeted later that she had a lovely time at prom and that she couldn’t have accomplished it without the support of people who follow her on Twitter.
She was also named prom queen, according to Yahoo.
Here’s the video that has gained so much attention. We’ve reached out to Morgan and will update this story if we hear back.
