4th Of July Weekend No Refusal Stats In City Of Austin

The Austin Police Department & Austin Transportation Department are continuously focused on preventing lives from being lost on the street.

The July 4, 2021 weekend No Refusal initiative has concluded. This initiative was conducted from July 1 thru July 4 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. During this period, 22 arrests were made for driving while intoxicated offenses:

Total DWI arrests during No Refusal period= 22

Blood Search Warrants: 8
Consent Breath Samples: 10
Consent Blood Samples: 4

Of those arrests, the following number had enhanced DWI charges:

Consent Breath Samples over .15= 8
Class A Misd DWI (with prior conviction) = 2
Felony DWI (2 or more prior convictions) = 2
Felony DWI Child Passenger = 0
Intoxication Assault = 0
Intoxication Manslaughter= 0
