Austin Police Memorial Set For Unveiling

Wall for fallen officers built as a promise, police said ahead of Tuesday reveal 'that we will always remember the sacrifice they made.'

AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Police Department is scheduled to unveil its newest police memorial on Tuesday night.

The memorial wall dedication is scheduled to take place at the Public Safety Training Academy located at 4800 Shaw Lane. "This wall was built as a promise to our fallen heroes, that we will always remember the sacrifice they made," officials said in a prepared statement. "It will also serve as a remembrance to their families, that their spirit lives within us and will never be forgotten."

The unveiling on Tuesday, May 14, is scheduled at 8 p.m. APD Commander Mark Spangler will emcee the dedication. Mayor Steve Adler, Chief Brian Manley and the families of APD’s fallen heroes also are expected to be in attendance.
