Massive Indoor Shooting Range Opening in South Austin

The range is for seasoned shooters and new enthusiasts.

South Austin is getting a new - and very large - shooting range.

The Range at Austin, a 52,000-square-foot- shooting facility, will be located at 8503 S. Interstate 35, near East William Cannon Drive. Austinites Grant Shaw and Alex Bosco are the founding partners behind The Range, which is being financed by Hillcrest Bank.

According to Statesman, the range will be for amateurs and pros, with 37 rifle-rated shooting lanes and a second level for members only. The VIP area will include private lanes, meeting rooms, a cigar room and food service.

Patrons can purchase guns, rifles, and accessories from various companies, including Beretta, Glock, Benelli, and Sig Sauer.

“The Range at Austin will provide customers the opportunity to demo a wide variety of firearms from pistols to machine guns in a controlled setting with instruction and oversight on how to use it,” said The Range at Austin spokesman Scott Dunaway in a statement. “This differentiator is a significant advancement in the way the recreational firearms industry has evolved. The Range at Austin is committed to creating a safe environment that is grounded in training and education while allowing individuals to explore the excitement in shooting sports.”
