Spring Artisan's Handmade Ornaments A Big Hit On Cyber Monday
Local artisan John Leslie will be hard at work filling Amazon orders on Cyber Monday for his handmade Christmas ornaments.
SPRING, TEXAS — While most shoppers are focused on Black Friday deals, one local artisan preparing for the craziness of Cyber Monday. John Leslie, who was featured in a Patch article in June, will be taking online orders for his specialty personalized Christmas ornaments through Amazon.com.
Leslie is one of a number of artisans in the U.S. who've been part of Amazon Handmade since its launch in 2015.
Leslie, who operates John Leslie Studios in Spring, began stocking up on an ample supply of mahogany and maple to create personalized ornaments for the Christmas season.

"I estimate that we will sell somewhere between 800 to 1,000 Christmas ornaments," Leslie told Patch.

Leslie, who has help from Klein High School senior Ezra Bailey, hope to fill all of his Cyber Monday orders by the end of the day on Wednesday or early Thursday. Once they are made, and packaged, they will be shipped through Amazon.com to their destination.
Leslie says with the help of Bailey, it's literally like being in Santa's workshop.
"We work day and night," Leslie said.
Most of the popular ornaments are personalized for couple's first Christmas, baby's first Christmas, a first home Christmas ornament, as well as ornaments for pets.
"I have a lot of repeat customers; people will buy these year after year," he said. "They are basically an heirloom."
Overall, Leslie says there are about 12 to 15 designs for ornaments. However, once in a while he will get a special request ornament. Sometimes those special requests are so awesome he adds them to his inventory.
That's where the pet ornaments came from, Leslie said.
He also makes specialized earrings out of wood, but he will be ornaments that take center stage on Cyber Monday.
