HOUSTON — Great things are happening in many of the Houston communities this weekend and if you’re not attending any of the dozens of graduation ceremonies, there are great events happening all over town.

Here are just a few happening where you are, or where you want to be:

Friday:

Music in the Plaza| Sugar Land Town Square| Friday 7:30 -9:30 p.m.| Bring your best moves to this cool family-friendly street party. The Backbeat Band will be on stage for this free event.

Hometown Opry| Pasadena| Friday 7:30 – 10:30 p.m.| You'll have a toe-tapping good time at the East Harris County Activity Center to kick off your weekend.

Texas Parks & Wildlife Free Fishing Day| Saturday| Texas offers a Free Fishing Day on the first Saturday in June every year to help kick off National Fishing and Boating Week. On this day anglers can fish on any public water body in the state without a fishing license. To help celebrate Free Fishing Day, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and other organizations are hosting many free events around the state on Saturday, June 1, to provide fun, high quality fishing opportunities to anglers of all skill levels and all ages.

Pickle & Pints at Southern Star Brewery| Conroe| 5:30 – 8:30 PM| Celebrate Southern Star Brewery's birth date this weekend with pickle ball and craft beer.

Paws for Prevention at Rob Fleming Park|The Woodlands| Saturday 8 a.m. — noon| Bring your fur babies to Rob Fleming Park in Creekside and support mental health awareness. Sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention — Southeast Texas Chapter.

National Clean Up The Creek Day| Jesse Jones Park in Humble| Saturday| Nothing ruins a scenic waterway faster than litter. Join Jones Park staff and volunteers to help clean up the creek and ponds around Jones Park to improve the environment for future generations. Participants should wear closed-toe shoes and clothing suitable for wet and muddy conditions. All ages welcome. Ages 16+ only for canoeing clean-up.

Heartmade Art Market|Houston| Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.| This semi-annual Downtown art market will feature more than 75 local and regional artists selling wares ranging from apparel and jewelry to home goods and art, as well as music, food truck fare, a beer and wine garden, free cotton candy from Lush Puff and more.

Hire Houstson Youth| Houston| Saturday | In partnership with McDonald's owners/operators of Greater Houston, Mayor Turner's Hire Houston Youth program will host the Hire Houston Youth Job and Resource Fair – an "on the spot" hiring event at BakerRipley Gulfton Sharpstown – to provide summer jobs and internship opportunities to 10,000 local youth.

Sunday:

Rockin’ 90s Summer Block Party at Levy Park| Houston| Sunday 5-9 p.m.| Head to Levy Park for a 90s themed summer block party filled with free activities, music, food trucks and more! DJ Mohawk Steve will get the party started with rocking tunes while the whole family can enjoy free bubble stations, face painting, hula hoops, jump ropes along with the park’s usual attractions. The Summer Block Party is a part of a reoccurring series throughout the summer.

Bayou Bikers Ride at Market Square|Sunday at 8 a.m.| See Houston from a different perspective on this meandering bike ride.
