Deputy Constable Injured In Crash With Suspected Drunk Driver

A deputy constable needed staples in his head after he was injured in a crash with a suspected drunk driver, police said.

SPRING, TX — A Harris County deputy constable had to make a trip to an area hospital after he was hurt in a crash with a suspected drunk driver, officials said. The crash happened at about 2 a.m. Friday on Beltway 8 and Veteran's Memorial Drive in northwest Harris County.

Investigators said both were traveling east on the Beltway when the alleged drunk driver slammed into the back of the deputy's patrol SUV. Another deputy who saw the crash, called in the accident to dispatchers.

Officials said the deputy, whose name has not been released, was trapped inside the wrecked patrol unit.

The suspected drunk driver, who has also not been identified, was taken to an area hospital for treatment and is charged with intoxication assault on a police officer, police said.
