LH Renovations did a Great Job to Rescue our Outdoor Kitchen

Though it was a small job, it made a huge difference to us.

In a previous blog post, I mentioned that my pool contractor, Stonewall Pools, declared bankruptcy before completing our outdoor kitchen that we paid for in advance. Fortunately for us, only some granite countertop cutting and electrical outlet installation remained.

Since we are new to Texas, we weren't sure how to get the job completed. I posted on Nextdoor.com and asked for recommendations. Though the job is a small one, Lupe Hernandez of LH Renovations felt our pain and decided to come to our rescue.

Lupe came to my house and assessed what work remained. He noted that the safety of the original design could be improved and volunteered to pick up parts for us at Home Depot. Although my request on NextDoor.com was only for granite countertop cutting, after talking with Lupe for only a few minutes, we were happy to have LH Renovations do the cutting and the remaining electrical. LH Renovations is insured, licensed, and bonded. They have a 4.94 rating (out of 5.0) on HomeAdvisor and are an Angie's List Professional.

The cutting of the holes in the granite went smoothly.

The electrical was more adventurous. At the outset, though the wiring was available, it was not live, i.e., no power. Since the work was originally done by Stonewall Pools, we had no idea how the outdoor kitchen was supposed to have power. I thought the power was to come from a GFC outlet nearby that Stonewall had installed. It turned out not to be the case. We even resorted to looking at pictures that I had taken during the pool construction.

It was a great relief when the electrician determined that the wires originated at the pool's control box. He hooked a power source to the wires at the kitchen and then traced the current back to the box.

He connected those wires to a breaker, and we were all set. My outdoor kitchen now had two working outlets.

LH Renovations charged us a very fair price. They were professional and did a quality job. My wife and I recommend them highly. We look forward to enjoying our outdoor kitchen near the pool. We also wish to thank Lupe Hernandez for coming to our rescue.
